Get color grays can't resist

Nice 'n Easy Gray Solution uses a breakthrough Gray Retexturizer Pre-treatment to soften coarse, color-resistant gray hair. So your hair color gets in and stays in, giving you superior, long-lasting coverage of resistant grays.

Nice ’n Easy Gray Solution is right for you if you want:

  • lasting coverage of resistant grays
  • to soften coarse gray before coloring
  • natural-looking color

How To Use

  1. DO SKIN ALLERGY TEST 48 HOURS BEFORE EACH APPLICATION EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY USED COLORING PRODUCTS

    GET READY TO COLOR
    • Use an old towel to protect your clothing and household surfaces.
    • Have a clock handy for timing.
  2. 1. PRE-TREAT DRY HAIR
Before coloring, apply the Gray Solution Retexturizing Pre-treatment to dry hair, all over from roots to tips.
    1. • Do not rinse!
      • Wash hands. Begin color preparation [Step 2].
  3. 2. PREPARE
    1. • Put on Professional Colorist Gloves..
      • Tear off and discard the tab from Activating Creme bottle (2b), then unscrew the applicator bottle cap.
    2. • Empty entire contents of the Color Creme tube [2a] (previously opened for Skin Allergy Test) into the Activating Creme bottle [2b] and replace cap.
    3. • Place gloved finger over the applicator tip. Shake well, holding away from face, until color is totally blended and mixture thickens. Apply color immediately.

Never reseal bottle or store color mixture in a closed container. Once mixed, a sealed container of haircolor could burst.
  4. 3. APPLY COLOR & TIME IT
    1. FOR ROOT APPLICATION
Ideal for users who color every 4-6 weeks to help maintain your gray defying color and ensure even color root to tip. • Part your hair down the middle and apply the color mixture to your roots, using the applicator nozzle to separate your hair into sections and continue applying the color to your roots only. Save the remainder of the color to use for the rest of your hair.
    2. • Leave the color on your roots for 20 minutes or for 5 minutes less than the time indicated by your Strand Test.
      • Then use the remaining color and gently work through the rest of your hair, but avoid rubbing into the scalp. Leave on for an additional 5 minutes.
      • Pour any unused color mixture down the drain. Once mixed, it will lose its effectiveness after an hour.
    3. OR FOR ALL-OVER GRAY COVERAGE
Use these instructions if you have not colored for 3 months or if you want to change your haircolor. • Squeeze Activating Creme bottle [2b] to apply color onto hair. When covering gray, start where you have the most gray.
      • Part your hair into small, even sections using the applicator nozzle.
      • Apply color first to your roots then immediately through the length of your hair. Work through hair to spread evenly, from root to tip, but don't rub into scalp.
      • Do not worry if the color of the mixture on your hair looks different from your desired color.
      • If any color gets on your skin or household surface, wipe it off immediately with a damp towel.
    4. • Once you have finished applying the color, leave it on hair for the time indicated by your Strand Test or 25 minutes.
      • Pour any unused color mixture down the drain. Once mixed, it will lose its effectiveness after an hour.
  5. 4. RINSE & GLOSS
    1. • Add a small amount of warm water and massage into a lather. Rinse until water runs clear.
    2. • For optimal color results, leave on for 2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.
      • Save remaining ColorSeal™ Conditioning Gloss and continue to use once a week (after shampooing) in place of your usual conditioner for optimal color, shine and softness.

Tip: For best results use a quarter-size amount for each application. Our exclusive ColorSeal™ Conditioning Gloss helps seal in beautiful, natural-looking color and adds intense shine!

Useful Tips from the Experts at Clairol

  • Apply Gray Solution Retexturizing Pre-treatment all over to dry hair that is free of styling product build-up. If hair has build-up, shampoo one day prior to coloring. Do not shampoo immediately before coloring. Your scalp has natural oils that help to protect it during coloring.
  • Use the ColorSeal™ Conditioning Gloss only once a week. It has been designed to give you long-lasting benefits. For best results, use a quarter-size amount per each application.
  • If your hair has recently been permed or relaxed, wait at least 7 days and 1 shampoo before coloring. Be sure to do the Strand Test, since your timing may need to be reduced. If you plan to perm or relax your hair, wait at least 7 days and 1 shampoo after coloring.
  • If you have used henna, gradual color restorers or metallic dyes, don't use this product until your hair has grown out and colored areas have been cut off.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • WHY IS GRAY SOLUTION DIFFERENT FROM OTHER HAIRCOLOR?
Gray hair has a coarse texture that makes it difficult to color. Our exclusive crème color is specifically formulated to improve how the color takes to your most visible gray hairs—especially at the roots and temples. Color gets in and stays in until you're ready to color again!
  • WHY IS GRAY SOLUTION SO EFFECTIVE ON RESISTANT GRAYS?
The Gray Retexturizing Pre-treatment gently retexturizes resistant grays to their soft, youthful best... so the concentrated color crème can penetrate easily for rich color that lasts up to 8 weeks.
  • And we've included our exclusive ColorSeal™ Conditioning Gloss to help seal in beautiful, natural-looking color and add intense shine.

Frequently Asked Questions: About Clairol products:

  • What products does Clairol make?
Clairol makes haircolor products. Choose from Semi-Permanent (lasts through 8-12 shampoos), Demi-Permanent (lasts through 28 shampoos), Permanent (lasts until your hair grows out or you recolor) or Highlighting & Blonding to help you become colorwonderful™.
  • Should individuals with natural, uncolored hair use different haircolor products than those who have previously colored their hair?
It depends on the desired result. If you are coloring your hair for the first time and only want to enhance your natural color, try a Demi-Permanent (lasts through 28 shampoos) product close to your natural haircolor. If you want to go lighter, you need to select a Permanent (lasts until your hair grows out or you recolor) haircolor, then refer to the insert that comes inside your box of Clairol haircolor and follow the instructions for first time application.
  • Should people who want to cover gray hair use different coloring products than those who don't need coverage?
Most Clairol haircolor products will blend or cover gray hair to some degree. If you have a small percentage of gray (not very visible), use a Semi-Permanent (lasts through 8-12 shampoos) product, such as Loving Care. If you have a higher percentage of gray hair (up to 50%), use a Demi-Permanent (lasts through 28 shampoos) product such as Natural Instincts, which will blend away gray hair. On the other hand, if you have a lot of gray and want to cover it completely, use a Permanent (lasts until your hair grows out or you recolor) product. If you have 50% or more gray, use Nice 'n Easy Gray Solution.
  • How can I test-run a color before committing to coloring my entire head of hair?
Strand test is a simple method for you to test haircolor on a portion of your hair before doing the entire application. (The instructions are in your haircolor box.) It's an important step because it's the only way to see exactly how the shade you selected works with your starting haircolor to achieve the resulting color. A strand test will also help you determine the exact timing you'll need to color your whole head.
  • Where can I find product instructions?
Product instruction inserts are inside your haircolor box.
